Welcome to Sheltersuit UK

At Sheltersuit UK we design and manufacture Shelterbags, warm, waterproof, portable shelters that give immediate safety, comfort, and dignity to people sleeping unsheltered.

With increasing numbers of people sleeping rough, Sheltersuit UK was incorporated in 2022 to help provide protection when there is no safe alternative, and until people can, we hope, be rehoused.

Our products are not a replacement for housing. They are a practical response for the moments when there is no other choice, and they can be life-saving for the most vulnerable in our society.

Sheltersuit UK also exists to tackle a quieter emergency: textile waste. Most of the technical fabrics we need are routinely discarded as surplus, offcuts, discontinued stock, display materials, or single-use event and production textiles. In many cases, these materials are otherwise destined for landfill or incineration, which brings environmental harm and unnecessary carbon emissions.

By turning unavoidable waste into immediate protection, we connect circular economy with social impact. Each Shelterbag extends the life of valuable materials, reduces demand for virgin fabric production, and helps prevent usable textiles becoming pollution.

Who we aim to protect

We focus on the following two target groups and always distribute our products in collaboration with local support organisations.

Rough Sleepers in UK

Homeless people have lost their home, but may be in shelter or temporary accommodation. Rough sleepers have nothing, and are forced to live out in the open with no shelter. The numbers in UK have risen by approximately 24% in both the last 2 years, because there are simply not enough sheltered spaces to even remotely cope.

While these people are sleeping outside in the cold and the rain, we aim to provide them with a warm and waterproof shelter in the form of a Shelterbag.

Victims of disaster and conflict

Disasters and conflicts cause large numbers of people to become homeless and often displaced. These people, often with many young, elderly, and sick……are always vulnerable and in urgent need of emergency aid. Our Shelterbags can keep them warm and dry and able to sleep, until such time as a longer-term solution appears.
